The I Walk Waste program is still in effect. Communal waste is removed daily.
Uncluttered office desks are wiped clean twice a month.
The office carpets will be vacuumed two times a month.
Classrooms are cleaned and reset once daily.
Please leave a clear desk so it can be wiped down.
Take your waste and recycling to the 4 stream bins in your common area.
Recyclables are a resource used to create new products. They are not garbage.
Refundables are beverage containers that can go to the bottle depot. Plastic or glass bottles, aluminum drink cans, or tetra-pack boxes go here. If unsure, check the label: it usually says something like "RETURN FOR REFUND WHERE APPLICABLE." At MRU, we partner with the Vecova Centre for Disability Services and Research and separating your refundable helps support various social programs at Vecova.
Mixed recycling is only for clean, dry, recyclable paper, metals, and plastic.
Please rinse out all recyclables before putting them in a mixed recycling. If you can't rinse it, sugar/food remnants/dirt will contaminate other recyclable products, and it will all have to go to the landfill. One dirty coffee cup can contaminate a whole load of products otherwise destined to be your next grocery bag, sustainable running shoes, yoga mat, skateboard ramp, deck composite, etc.
Contaminated paper products can go into organics. This includes coffee cups, napkins, used pizza or donut boxes with grease stains, that stack of paper with your spilled yogurt/coffee/lunch, etc.
Contaminated and/or unknown source plastic products go into landfills.
