Every June 21, communities across Canada come together to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day. It is an opportunity to recognize and learn more about the histories, cultures, languages, and traditions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples, and to celebrate the diversity and richness they bring to communities across the country. For us, this day is also an opportunity to reflect on the many ways Indigenous communities are part of the places we serve every day. Our Indigenous team members and partners bring knowledge and traditions that enrich our workplaces and help shape the relationships that make our work meaningful.
This connection is something we experience throughout the year through the relationships we have built with Indigenous communities across Canada. Through our joint venture with Legacy Site Maintenance at Cold Lake, our collaboration with Seaside Maintenance at Tsawwassen and our indigenous-led suppliers across all Canada, we have had the privilege of working alongside Indigenous communities and building relationships founded on mutual respect, collaboration and a commitment to supporting the communities we serve together.
These relationships have also inspired us to continue investing in opportunities that support learning, collaboration, and community growth. Through initiatives that support Indigenous education and career growth for Indigenous team members, we remain committed to creating opportunities that strengthen our communities and help build meaningful relationships that extend well beyond a single day of recognition.
Today is a celebration of the stories, languages, traditions, art, and knowledge that have been carried across generations and continue to be an important part of Canada's cultural landscape. As we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, we are reminded of the importance of continuing to learn, build meaningful relationships, and recognize the many ways Indigenous communities contribute to the places we share. It is also a time to celebrate the diversity within our communities and to continue learning from one another as we build inclusive, welcoming places to live and work.
