BEST is aware of the long-term impact of our actions and strives to consistently find ways to be more sustainable. One of the ways in which we have incorporated a sustainability-centred framework in our organization is through the adoption of the Four Rs. The Four Rs stand for – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink. This framework allows us to make decisions and create initiatives designed to mitigate any negative impact our services may have on the environment.
Some of the ways BEST applies the Four Rs framework include:
Reduce – We make a conscious effort to reduce the number of wasteful and non-recyclable products we use. We choose to buy cleaning products and chemicals in bulk resulting in reduced consumption of plastic as fewer packaging materials are used. We also have programs in place that encourage reduced consumption of resources such as water and electricity.
Reuse – BEST uses microfibers to clean all surfaces instead of paper towels. Microfibers are more environmentally friendly as they are reusable and are also a more effective cleaning tool for removing bacteria.
Recycle – We have several recycling programs in place at the sites we service. Our recycling program includes a comprehensive training and signage system designed to increase the proper disposal of all recyclable and waste items. We also have recycling programs in place for typically hard-to-recycle items such as uniforms and PPE.
Rethink – Our Sustainability department is dedicated to finding new and innovative ways to make BEST a more sustainable and environmentally friendly organization. Through reoccurring training and education, BEST encourages its team members to always keep sustainability in mind when completing day-to-day tasks.
