Let’s talk about Mental Health!
May is mental health awareness month. Despite much being said about the subject, many people still feel overwhelmed or ashamed to talk about their mental health.
What is mental health?
Mental health is the balance of the psychological, cognitive, and emotional states. A balanced state gives us the ability to manage different situations, whether positive or negative. Taking care of mental health is fundamental especially in the work environment, after all, we invest a large part of our day at work.
Negative or toxic professional environments can create several problems and cognitive wear for team members. It is not uncommon to find people whose mental health is compromised because of work. At BEST we care about our team members and always strive to create a balance between work and leisure. We have created a work culture based on understanding and support where team members are encouraged to rely on each other when in need. We continuously educate our team members on topics related to creating healthy habits, lowering stress, maintaining mental and physical health, and numerous other topics in our monthly meeting. The health and wellbeing of our team members is most important to us.
Taking mental health into consideration and providing a healthy environment at work helps reduce diseases, improves relationships and teamwork, and created an engaging work environment. A happy and healthy team member is more likely to thrive in their personal and work lives.
