International Women's Day 2020

Today is International Women's Day, a day dedicated to honoring the achievements of women throughout history and around the world.

In 2018, Canadian women 15 years and older represented nearly half (47.7%) of the labor force, compared to 37.1% in 1976—a percentage increase of close to 30%. Nowadays, commitment to gender equality is stronger than ever within Canadian organizations. Four of five Canadian organizations consider gender diversity a priority, and half of them have articulated a business case for gender diversity. *

At BEST, we encourage an environment of trust and respect with all team members, customers and the communities we serve, regardless of gender, race, or cultural difference. Opportunities are offered on an equal basis, and we are proud to show the number of women in our workforce and in our leadership. Across our company, 49.79% are men and 49.31% are women. In leadership positions, 48.9% of our office and field managers are women, a balance that we insist on always maintaining.

When more women ascend to leadership roles, they become role models for girls and other women. A KPMG study on women’s leadership found that:

67% of women reported they had learned the most important lessons about leadership from other women.
82% of professional working women believe access to and networking with female leaders will help them advance in their career.
86% of women report that when they see more women in leadership, they are encouraged to believe that they can become leaders themselves.
91% of working women indicated that it is important for them to be a positive role model for younger female colleagues in the workplace.
