Ensuring Pandemic Protection in the Workplace
As employees return to the office part- or full-time and the new COVID-19 Omicron variant becomes a greater potential threat, companies have begun to strengthen their office cleaning protocols. Now, more than ever, businesses need to make health and safety their main focus in order to retain employees and keep their businesses productive and profitable. Employees have expressed their concerns about the risk of infection from the new variant, which might lead to another phase of labour market shortage in Canada. For this reason, adequate cleaning and disinfecting practices are critical in creating COVID-19-proof workplaces that employees feel comfortable in.
Ensuring a cleaner work environment is not only a concern in preventing COVID-19 outbreaks, but also relates to improving and maintaining the hygiene and mental health of all employees. In this new pandemic-aware world, we believe that the key to retaining employees is by creating an environment that is both clean and disinfected, in which they feel safe and comfortable. BEST is committed to the health and safety of all team members. As a part of this commitment, BEST will provide hand-hygiene facilities on all sites, and team members are required to adhere to and follow appropriate hand-washing and cough and sneeze protocols. Educational signage and safety-focused 'toolbox talks' are provided to sites and team members on a regular basis. BEST is committed to providing an adequate supply of disinfectants and equipment, and we also work with building operators to ensure building ventilation systems are properly maintained and functioning as designed. By ensuring these precautions are in place at all of our sites, we are able to protect our team members, and our team members are in turn able to protect our clients and their visitors!
