BEST Commemorates Remembrance Day

November 11, 2021

Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, has been celebrated in Canada for over a hundred years. Our country commemorates Remembrance Day every November in honour of the millions of Canadians who have served and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict, and peace. We take this day as a moment of silence to reflect, give thanks, and remember those who have fallen. The November 11 date is significant because is the day when the armistice agreement ended World War I.

This prestigious holiday has plenty of ways to mark it with family, friends, and loved ones. However, we should also remember that staying healthy and safe should always be our number one priority, even on Remembrance Day.

BEST recommends an easy and traditional way to celebrate this holiday by wearing a poppy, or, if you or someone you know has a family member in the armed forces, you can send them a letter or message to let them know you're thinking of them and that you’re grateful for their sacrifice and service. Finally, don’t forget to pause for two minutes right at 11 am to reflect and remember those who have lost their lives in pursuit of the freedoms we enjoy every day.
