Celebrating National Higher Education Day
Yesterday, June 6, was National Higher Education Day. Our team took this opportunity to reflect and be grateful for how higher education has helped us in our careers and been a major part of BEST’s history.
At BEST, we are grateful for the chance to work with our higher education clients to keep their facilities healthy and safe for their students, teachers, staff, and communities. We see ourselves as more than a cleaning company, as we always strive to engage with and serve the communities that our higher education clients seek to build. BEST General Manager, Mike Tung, recalls a recent instance in which a BEST team member worked to help a student that was experiencing a crisis on campus. “A student was going through some kind of mental suffering in public, and one of the BEST supervisors was able to recognize and diffuse the situation,” he said. BEST team members take pride in their roles in the higher education community, and know that our responsibility to the campuses we serve extends beyond ensuring their cleanliness; we truly care about the safety of those on our sites.
In addition to ensuring safety, we recognize how much the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a global learning disruption for students, with the closure of colleges and universities disrupting the lives and educations of many. “Especially during this pandemic, the higher education industry has helped students recognize the importance of a clean and healthy environment,” said Amon Kang, BEST’s Recruitment Manager. As the COVID-19 pandemic moves towards a resolution, BEST looks forward to exceeding the cleaning expectations of our higher education clients so that every person who visits their campuses, whether it’s to learn, work, or attend a community event, can do so safely and securely.
With more than 65 years of experience in the higher education industry and over 30 million square feet of cleaning space maintained at Canada’s most prestigious institutions, BEST is the leader in sustainable cleaning in our industry. Covering more than 30 educational campuses, we are honoured to continue to provide healthy and safe learning environments for over 300,000 students each year. Happy National Higher Education Day!
